Behind the Mike

MikeMicMike Boris is a  voice actor located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

His comfortable, resonant voice was heard on WFYI-FM 90.1, Indy’s public radio station, as well as a brief stint on a top-40 FM morning show.

His broadcasting days are behind him and, although he may be off the air, he’s still behind a mic.

Mike’s style lends itself to long-form recording…story narrations, podcasts, audio-books, documentaries and training materials. He’s not your typical “over the top” announcer guy, but he has been known to do an occasional promotion, commercial or public service announcement. He’s even recorded a political ad or two…hey, everybody has to make a buck.

He has the capability to record and edit in-house, but is more than happy to travel to your studio….or sound-proof closet…or free-standing acoustic tile lean-to…whatever.

He takes direction well, is non-union and firmly subscribes to the maxim that no job is too small, but every job is worth doing well.

…in other news…Sofanaut AwardsMike was recently nominated for a 2010 Sofanaut Award in the category of “Best Narration” for his contrbutions to the StarShipSofa podcast.

What About Mike’s Work?

The narration was superb - really clear, with excellent pacing.

Mike has been a great asset on a few of our productions when we needed a great voice and a great price. He was always very flexible, and in one case came to our studio over his lunch break in order to meet a last minute client request. Top qualities: Great Results , Personable , Good Value Hired Mike as a Video Production in 2007 , and hired Mike more than once

I really enjoyed this story and the reading was fantastic. The ending did leave me confused. Like following a river and having it end up in a swamp. Dog said several times that the door to death he was looking for was not a metaphor, and yet that's what we got. Or is it. Not 100% to be honest. But still I would wholeheartedly welcome more stories from Jay Lake and more read by Mike Boris.
